If you need an emergency dentist in West London, phone a practice first and ask if it has a same-day appointment. If it is evening, night or the weekend, or no practice can see you, call NHS 111 or use 111.nhs.uk. You do not need to be registered with a dentist to get urgent NHS care.

What to do now

  1. Phone a practice. Use the borough pages below to find practices near you. We are still checking which practices keep same-day emergency slots, so always phone before you travel.
  2. If no practice can see you, or it is out of hours, call NHS 111 or go to 111.nhs.uk. In London, 111 can pass you to the London dental triage service, which can book an urgent NHS appointment.
  3. Go to A&E or call 999 if you have a serious injury to your face or jaw, heavy bleeding from your mouth that will not stop, or swelling in your mouth, throat or neck that makes it hard to breathe or swallow.

What it costs

An urgent NHS appointment costs £27.90 in 2026/27, unless you get free NHS treatment. If you need more treatment afterwards, such as a filling or a root canal, that is charged separately at the normal NHS rate.

If you pay privately, the median published price for an emergency appointment in West London is £70, from 91 practices. It is £60 in Hillingdon and £90 in Hammersmith and Fulham. Any treatment you need is usually charged on top. See our London dental price list for each practice’s prices.

What counts as a dental emergency

The NHS says to get an urgent appointment, from a dentist or through NHS 111, if you have:

  • severe tooth or mouth pain that stops you sleeping or doing everyday things
  • swelling in your mouth or face
  • a broken tooth, or a broken or loose filling, crown, bridge or denture
  • bleeding or severe pain after having a tooth taken out

If an adult tooth is knocked out, you should be seen within 1 hour if possible. Hold the tooth by the white top part (the crown), not the root. If it is dirty, rinse it briefly in milk or salt water. Try to push it back into place. If you cannot, keep it in milk or in your mouth next to your cheek, and get to a dentist straight away. Do not put a baby tooth back in.

Always phone before travelling in a dental emergency. We're verifying which practices reserve same-day emergency slots directly from each practice's own website; until that data lands, call the practice - or NHS 111 out of hours - to confirm urgent availability.
